Purpose of the Position: Under general supervision, ensures compliance with customs and other government agency requirements by adhering to the MBUSI Customs Compliance Program. Responsible for maintaining Free Trade Agreement (FTA) certifications of finished vehicles, conducting external & internal compliance reviews, broker and service provider KPI's, maintenance of internal procedures, and education of MBUSI Team Members.
Essential Functions: (List all basic responsibilities related to the purpose of the position)
Organization and Knowledge Management
Compliance Policies and Procedures
Maintain internal processes and procedures to ensure compliance with US Customs regulations
Maintain and review the company compliance manual
Conduct department and position based training plans in conjunction with external training provider
Review latest industry and regulatory publications for information relevant to continued compliance
Review the import compliance program for completeness and accuracy
Conduct internal self-audits of various business activities to maintain trade compliance best practices
Audit recordkeeping program for import, export & Foreign Trade Zone (FTZ) documents
Develop and implement trade compliance policies and procedures
Perform Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTS) classification reviews
Perform verifications of customs value and payment
Monitor Automated Commercial Environment (ACE) data
Maintain KPI's for customs brokers & forwarders
Perform reviews of Corporate Customs-Trade Partnership Against Terrorism (C-TPAT) program
Maintain targeted training programs for employees on import, export and FTZ compliance requirements
Free Trade Agreements (FTAs)
Perform reviews of Integration Point effectiveness and determine need for corrective actions
Monitor and track supplier certificates and regularly report status and findings to management
Prepare annual NAFTA Election to Average
Perform plant wide NAFTA vehicle qualification
Qualify vehicles for various FTA agreements by reviewing qualification criteria and issuing certificates
Lead FTA audits as necessary
Coordinate export compliance with MBUSA and Service Parts
Monitor Freight Forwarder export compliance, report findings to management and assist with corrective actions
Review MBUSI and contractor physical & procedural security, report findings to management and recommend corrective actions
Monitor Duty Drawback Program and report status to management
Marginal Functions: (List responsibilities which are not essential, but may be required)
Involved in testing and implementation of system changes
Serve as designee for other specialists as required
Perform other related projects/duties as required or requested by management.
QUALIFICATIONS: Education, Experience and Necessary Skills all must be met in order to qualify for position.
Education: Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Accounting, or related field and/or the equivalent combination of education and experience
Experience: A minimum of 3 years of experience in a customs compliance role or a related accounting field
Necessary Skills, Certifications, etc.:
Licensed Customs Broker
SAP Experience
Working knowledge of FTA certifications
Working knowledge of customs compliance criteria
High level of expertise in Excel (including pivot tables and look-ups)
Excellent written and oral communication skills
Proven ability to meet project deadlines
Preferred Skills: CPA and/or CMA certification

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
